August was a great month for fishing in Bangkok at the famous Bungsamran Lake. For any angler's first time to Bungsamran Lake the best target fish is the Mekong catfish; simply due to the numbers of large fish an angler is able to hook in a single fishing day trip. Fishing for Mekong catfish can produce twenty or more hook-ups in a day from specimens averaging 40lb and with a fair chance of catching monsters over 100lb.
For anglers who have fished this style before at Bungsamran Lake another option opens up - Siamese carp fishing. Usually a day is not enough to catch one and two days is advised, however when they are caught they are amongst the biggest in Thailand. This month a few were caught of which two are pictured above - very special captures.
