Fishing in Thailand is know for throwing up 'red letter' days of carp & catfish reaching gigantic proportions; as Fish Thailand has reported on several occasions in the past.
This particular brace of Mekong's at 132lb & 165lb respectively fell on just another seemingly normal day's fishing for German angler Florian at Bungsamran Lake. A single day trip fishing one rod on the standard float-fished method hit into the first beast on the second cast of the morning - an incredible fight followed by one very delighted angler.
Continuing to play fish after fish around the 40lb mark, Florian was understandably feeling exhausted - and then out of nowhere the second beast of the day picked up the bait. After an even more testing battle than the first, a rather bemused Florian could not believe it when there lay a 165lb Mekong catfish in the net!
There is really not much point in Florian fishing for Mekong catfish again, it is not likely at all that he will beat that brace; he will become one of the many Fish Thailand clients to be added to the quest list of fishing for the Siamese carp in future trips instead.
