Ken from Ireland came fishing in Thailand today with The Fish Thailand Team to Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok.
With 6 good Mekong giant catfish to 45lb under his belt already, Ken struck into the next fish. A lovely surprise greeted all of us as the fish kited long and hard to the right, telling us it was a 'biggy!'
With the lake being very busy today the beast crossed 5 adjacent bungalows taking out a few lines with it! As Alley, Eddy and Ken leapfrogged across the neighbors bungalow - we were apologetic for the disturbance. The fish came to rest under another bungalow further up the lake where Fish Thailand's pro-guide Alley was forced to enter the water and free the snagged fish for Ken to continue the fight.
Sure enough - half an hour after hooking the fish, Ken coaxed it into the landing net. Weighing in at 82lb (37Kg) - we were all happy with this result on a busy day at the lake. Ken was so happy with the catch that he decided to finish the day on this high at 2p.m - this is the fish he came to catch.
One of the most delightful aspects of fishing in Thailand at Bungsamran Lake is the hospitality of fellow anglers. In this case a big fish was kiting right over other anglers lines and through communication and working together the fish was landed 5 bungalows down from ours.
