The main headlines for April's fishing in Thailand must be awarded to budding 10-yr-old junior angler Kit Glenwright accompanied by his father Bill.
Being an avid lure angler the itinerary was created for Kit to include two days lure fishing for barramundi at Boon Mar Ponds on the first and last days with a day bait fishing at IT Lake Monsters sandwiched in the middle to fish for a variety of Amazonian monsters.
Boon Mar Ponds produced barramundi to 8kg for Kit - who at such at a young age uses a baitcasting reel with great skill. The fishing at IT Lake Monsters produced some terrific specimens for Kit too including a 45kg arapaima & a 30kg Amazon redtail catfish; both of which beat dad's personal bests! Bill however did go on to catch an equally worthy specimen of his own in the form of a 30kg Chao Phraya catfish - a splendid new species and personal best.
As for Bungsamran Lake this month - the majority of anglers were targeting the Mekong catfish with great success, plenty of fish between 40-50kg making for extremely tiring work in the 38 degree Celsius heat of April. |
