The
fishery comprises of 2 well-established lakes in the centre of
the resort that are long renowned for their history of
producing big fish. Both lakes are well matured and benefit
from tree-lined banks resulting in a scenic secluded angling
environment. In terms of lake topography both lakes are
somewhat similar with water depths ranging from 4 feet margins
to deeper areas in excess of 40 feet in open water. This means
that each lake is able to accommodate a variety of angling
techniques to suit your desired form of fishing and can be
enjoyed by anglers of all abilities.

THE
METHOD LAKE
The Method lake is 3
acres in size and may be regarded as a ‘runs-water’ given its
good head of species consisting of Mekong catfish (up to
120lb+), Striped catfish (up to 15lb), Siamese carp (up to
90lb) and Pacu (up to 30lb). In addition to this, there are
additional smaller species present including Rohu, Java Barb,
Silver barb and Asian redtail catfish.
The restaurant bank
offers concrete platforms adjacent to the water’s edge coupled
with ample seating and shading from the weather and is the
favourite choice of most anglers. In addition to this there
are also singular flatform areas adjacent to the restaurant
which can accommodate two anglers comfortably. However, the
far bank offers sun shading from Palm trees and seating is
also available. Due to less angling pressure this bank can
often be worth considering when targeting Siamese carp and
Pacu in order to avoid other species.

METHOD
LAKE - ANGLING TECHNIQUES
Traditional Thai methods have proven to be most effective for
targeting Mekong catfish and striped catfish, consisting of a
method feeder suspended beneath a float cast into open water
at differing depths depending upon weather conditions. By
building a baited area with accurate casting, a bite a cast is
expected as we work to build a feeding frenzy.
If you prefer to target Pacu with the
chance of a Siamese carp then a delicate float fishing
approach fished on the bottom has proven to be fruitful.
Fishing from the far bank may be favoured in order to avoid
the striped catfish which are prominent on the left side of
the lake. Also avoiding angling pressure allows for a stealthy
approach to target such species in the margins on bread-flake.

SPECIEMEN
LAKE
The specimen lake is
slightly smaller being 2 acres in size and receives
significantly less angling pressure. This coupled with
over-hanging trees surrounding marginal bays produces an
intimate water that offers opportunities along the edge.
Target species include Siamese carp (up to 90lb),
alligator gar (up to 40lb), Amazon redtail (up to 40lb) and
Pacu (up to 30lb). In addition to this other species include
specimen sized arapaima, barramundi along with Sorubim and
Chao Phraya catfish.
There are 3
established swims to fish from in addition to the bungalows
which offer both comfortable seating and shading from the
weather all surrounded by palm trees and grass banks leading
to the water’s edge providing a picturesque setting.

SPECIMEN
LAKE - ANGLING TECHNIQUES
A subtle waggler
set-up fished over-depth in the margins is a simple but
effective form of fishing that can account for the majority of
species listed but primarily Pacu and Amazon redtail when
fished along the margins close to overhanging vegetation.
Accurately hand feeding ground-bait at regular intervals
throughout the day can often result in several fish stirring
up the bottom only a few feet from the edge whilst the float
is placed into position.
A similar method also
involving a float set-up to target the Siamese carp is aptly
referred to as ‘on the drop’ where a slow sinking hook bait is
presented (usually bread) and cast to showing fish in open
water. The hook bait during freefall mimics the free offerings
to produce instinctive takes from the Siamese carp as they
respond to the sound of the bait entering the water. This is
more suited towards the active angler and whilst this method
may be more demanding, the result can be rewarding.
If you would prefer to
relax whilst targeting the Siamese carp, then a feeder packed
with bread feed fished on the bottom means that you are able
to sit back and relax in-between casts. This technique is very
similar to targeting the striped catfish and benefits from
accurate casting to the same area to help build the swim and
draw fish to the area.
On a sunny day with
little wind, the alligator gar can often be spotted just
beneath the surface as they chase prey species. This provides
a perfect opportunity to present a bait on the surface for
them and is a super exciting method packed with anticipation.
By casting beyond them and slowly retrieving the bait into
position you observe them home in on the hook-baits and the
action unfold.
