Robin Lee is a keen specimen catfish hunter previously taking trips to the River Ebro in Spain where he has caught Wels Catfish to 137lb. Now on holiday in Bangkok, Robin took the opportunity to fish with the Fish Thailand Team at Bungsamran - every serious cat hunters dream venue.
Robin's father, Tom - a traditional fly fisherman who's target speice is usually Salmon accompanied his son for this trip.
The day started off well with Mekong catfish feeding earlier in the day than usual and averaging 44lb (20kg). Throughout the day more than 30 fish, mostly in the 40's were landed between Robin & Tom.
Robin was amazed at the strength and stamina of the giant Mekong catfish and pound for pound rates them a tougher fish than the Wels Catfish from the River Ebro.
The best fish of the day fell to Tom weighing in at 53lb. |
