Fishing Thailand - Siamese Giant Carp
After a successful barramundi fishing trip 2 days ago with the Fish Thailand Team - Richard wanted to have a crack at the Siamese giant carp which fishing Thailand is so renowned for. Singapore based angler, Richard, has fished Bungsamran Lake in Bangkok over 10 times in the past by himself; and although doing very well had never caught a Siamese giant carp. Fish Thailand's mission today was to get Richard hooked up with this incredibly shy specie.
As the light was fading the rod buckled over into his first Siamese giant carp - at 33lb it was a beautiful end to the day, so we thought.............
Mekong Giant Catfish Fishing Thailand
It was now dark and the call for the day was to finish our dinner and then reel in the rods. Just as the last mouthful of chicken fried rice went down - the carp rod was off again. Bending into this fish we all knew it was not a carp but instead a very large Mekong giant catfish! Richard played the fish with great skill and 20 minutes later the fish was landed in the pitch black of night 2 swims up from where he had hooked it! Weighing in at 84lb, it was clear that Richard was thrilled with the day ending in his first Siamese giant carp and his biggest Mekong giant catish. |
