The great snakehead (Channa marulius) is a freshwater fish species in the snakeheads family (family Channidae) of order Perciformes (perch-likes). The great snakehead is native to the ecosystems of the Mekong River basin in Thailand.
Natural Food Source
The great snakehead feeds primarily by hunting fish and occasionally taking frogs, snakes & water birds.
Great Snakehead Identification
The eel-like body of the great snakehead has less colouration differences than the giant snakehead; the great snakehead is more uniformly dark brown. The dorsal fin is long stretching across the back; a small head with a big mouth displays rows of sharp teeth for trapping its prey.
