THAILAND FISHING HOLIDAY - DAY 2 - BIG BARRA LAKE
A Slow Sunny Morning
A slow morning produced a few barramundi for both Shawn and Hyon, the strong Thailand sun beating down on the still pond pushed the barramundi to the depths where only a few were caught on deep running lures.
'Scary Baits ' - Shawn's Spinner & Buzz Bait Creations
Shawn is a true lure angler - not only has he mastered the art of lure fishing itself - he has certainly mastered the art of lure making. Using the basic information I provided via email prior to the fishing holiday regarding lure colours & patterns that work; Shawn had got to work on making a whole selection of buzz baits and spinner baits - known as 'Scary Baits.' During the slow morning Shawns spinner baits produced both himself and Hyon a few good fish.
A Frantic Surface Smashing Afternoon
The conditions were perfect by 3p.m - the water was calm, the temperature had dropped and a slither of cloud cover formed the ideal conditions for surface lures. Hyon opted for surface poppers with fightening results from hard striking, aggressive barramundi one after another. Meanwhile Shawn on the other side of the pond had proven his home made surface buzz baits with srikes and hits almost every other cast - a great test and confidence builder to get such great results on self - made lures.
