The 'Fish Thailand Explorer' - Jungle Fishing Safaris in Comfort & Style |
'Convertible' Boat for Added Comfort
A collapsible top was custom made to fold away so not to prohibit available space. If relief from the sun or rain is desired, or just to take a break from lure casting the top can be erected in a few seconds.

Stable Casting Decks
Located both at the bow and stern of the boat is a raised casting platform offering stable & spacious areas for two anglers. Raised swivel casting chairs are also able to be inserted into both casting decks if desired. The casting chairs have back rests to save anglers from the back ache so often encountered with hours upon hours of lure fishing in Thailand for snakehead

Remote Control Electric Trolling Motor - Bow Mounted
Mounted on the bow is a 43lb thrust 'motorguide' electric trolling motor. While you concentrate on fishing & casting lures at the fish, 'Ay' - Fish Thailand's top jungle guide will be driving & steering the boat from the center console seats well out of the way, this is possible due to the remote control feature of the trolling motor. Being electric it is quiet and extremely stealthy, with thanks to the 200AH (Amp Hour) deep cycle battery onboard a full days fishing is no problem before requiring a charge overnight. It is very difficult to find batteries of this caliber in Thailand this particular one was also imported from the U.S.A - unbelievably the battery alone weighs 76kg.

On-Board Fish Finder \ Echo Sounder
Not only a priceless tool for snakehead fishing but the Fish Thailand Explorer is also extremely helpful for Indian carp fishing. The onboard Garmin colour fish finder \ echo sounder aids us in locating shoals of Indian carp. Feature finding Khao Laem Dam with a fish finder illustrates incredible underwater features, snags, drop offs and depths. Also showing the dam beds' substrate is important for different target species, for example catfish generally prefer the rocky beds while carp prefer the softer muddy beds.

Onboard Underwater Video Camera System
Another wonderful gadget for Indian carp fishing Thailand is the 'Fish Thailand Explorers' underwater video camera linked with 90ft of wire to an onboard TV screen. The quality is excellent in the clear water of Khao Laem Dam, even at night images are clear with aid of the camera's 24 LED's. Once an area has been baited for a week the Indian carp move in and out of the swim continuously, a lot can be learnt about their behavior and interaction with bait when you are looking straight at them on the TV screen.

Getting The Boat To Khao Laem Dam
Towing the boat from Bangkok 350km to Khao Laem Dam in the Kanchanaburi province of Thailand was fairly straight forward; the challenges faced were in the last 20m to the water. With the water levels extremely low and the banks very soft indeed, even the 4x4 vehicle could not get all the way to the water's edge. A total of 8 Fish Thailand guides & friends came across in their long-tails boats from their rafts to help with the launch.
